JUMO IPC IGBT Power Converter (709050)

The JUMO IPC is a power converter to control heating loads that have previously required a transformer (variable AC transformer or a thyristor power unit/transformer combination). Due to its way of operating the device is also referred to as an electronic transformer with a pulsating direct current at the output. It combines the advantages of a conventional variable AC transformer (such as amplitude control and sinusoidal network load) with the advantages of a thyristor (SCR) power switch (such as current limiting, load monitoring, subordinate control loops, etc.). No electrical isolation exists between the voltage supply and the load voltage. This converter is suitable for all operational areas where substantial resistive loads have to be switched. Operation of the IPC requires a choke and a mains filter in addition to the IPC power converter. Here, only the chokes or mains filters that are specified by JUMO may be used. Thanks to the amplitude control (mains current input is always sinusoidal), synchronous clock controls (for burst-firing mode), and reactive-current compensation devices (due to reactive power with phase-angle mode) are no longer required.
